OUTWARD BOUND FOR ECUADOR…
Once again, a large contingent of men and women from Kansas are spending a number of days during the months of January and February in Ecuador.
Organized and led by Mr. Darrell Allison, these teams express the heart of servanthood by coming alongside the church in Ecuador to continue building the ministry center, offering a Vacation Bible School to children, hosting a women’s day outreach as well as providing additional teaching and training. Ministry will occur primarily in the metropolitan seacoast city of Guayaquill and the mountain town of Racar, adjacent to the city of Cuenca.
A total of 43 people, split into two teams, will be in Ecuador. Missionaries George and Sheree Wuertz are also returning to Ecuador while the Kansas teams are in Racar to oversee the building of the ministry center. Furthermore, newly minted missionaries, Ned, Marlene, and Jordan McGrady, having just completed language school in Costa Rica, have also moved to Cuenca to establish a base of ministry there.
The Wesleyan Church of Kansas has been instrumental in establishing a Wesleyan presence in Ecuador. For a number of years, men, women, teens, and children have given several days to expressing Jesus' love for Ecuadorians through their committed service, compassionate hearts, and calloused hands.
Significant setbacks have recently occurred in Cuenca and Racar. Missionaries to Ecuador and district leaders believe that the presence of the Kansas teams are critical to re-engaging a redemptive influence in these communities. Perhaps now more than ever, The Wesleyan Church of Ecuador needs to know that in spite of some reversals, the commitment of Kansas to the people and church of Ecuador remains unwavering. Fervent prayer for Ecuador and the teams are solicited and appreciated.
